The Lincoln Center is known for many things, hosting numerous ceremonies throughout the year and providing a contemporary backdrop for some of the art world’s biggest exhibits. Brooklyn based artist collective, Faile did not fail to live up to the opening of Les Ballets de Faile. The occasion was a collaboration between Faile and the New York City Ballet.
The art installation consisted of giant pillars adorned with the visual abstract material that resulted in the mashup of artists. Quite a few pieces showcased overlays of animal/human models along with elements of popular culture such as muscle cars, vintage billboard shots and light color swatches used to offset the effects. Along the 16 by 40 feet wide columns, the artists showcased new bodies of work in tandem with the set. Finally, the night was capped off with an spontaneous performance from the New York City ballet. Be sure to check it out through May 29.
